>This morning the sky was grey and the wind was light. The forecast is for rain this afternoon with very strong wind. The noise from the bridge construction is a little intrusive. We have discovered the marina across the ICW from us is within walking distance of the grocery store, a pharmacy and just about every thing else one could want. I phoned to discover they give Boat US members a discount and their rate is less than what we are paying here. We have decided to move to Palm Cove Marina after our Federal Express package from home gets here. My cousin who lives here in Jacksonville Beach came over just after ten this morning. This is only the second time I have seen him since my early teens. I had reconnected with him last year on a visit to Georgia. He was eager to tell us some of the adventures he had growing up and of his adventures in the military. He is retired now and does volunteer work at the local fire station. Shortly after noon our delivery arrived and he aided us in casting off to move the boat across the water way to hopefully a quieter spot. We arrived at our assigned docking place to find him there with the dock hand waiting to catch the lines. It felt good to see a familiar face, especially that of family waiting on shore to help us out. He took us to St. Johns seafood restaurant where we enjoyed a good lunch and continued our reunion. He brought us back to the marina and we made arrangement to contact each other the following morning. At this point we had not decided if we are traveling tomorrow or will wait out the weather. We proceeded to open our mail and pay the necessary bills. Later in the afternoon we took a walk in light rain to the grocery store. It was a brisk walk and good exercise. It was just what we needed to work up an appetite for dinner. After dinner we put on the old movie we were watching the night before. It seems we had fallen asleep in the middle of the move. We found where we had left off and low and behold, I woke up at ten fifteen and we had both fallen asleep again during this move. We shut down the computer and went to bed a light rain was still falling. Good night. |
