Titusville to Vero Beach, FL |
|
January 28, 2008 Titusville to Vero Beach We got off today at ten o’clock intending to travel four hours and anchor. The weather was so nice when we got to our anchorage we decided to call ahead and see if we could get dockage at Vero Beach, another four hours down the waterway. The scenery was very nice along the way, again a variety of just about everything. We passed some sail boats and a few fast boats with huge wakes passed us. There were still stretches along the way when we were the only boat on the water way. Again we had to be alert for manatee as signs are posted everywhere in this area to watch for them and go at slow speed. Well, that’s not problem for us. Our boat has one speed, slow. We arrived at Vero Beach Municipal Marina about 5:45 PM and pulled into our slip for the night. Good thing we called ahead and made that reservation. I noticed other several Grand Banks boats in the marina, and all of a sudden we heard a lady shout "I know that boat". Pepper Holmes, a new acquaintance from the Chesapeake Grand Banks Owners Club we joined this fall was on the dock to greet us. She was so excited to see us and likewise we were very happy to see her. She welcomed us and really made the end to a long eight hour trip seem well worth it. We walked to a local restaurant for a light meal, and made the mistake of ordering onion strings. They were delicious but had way too much fat for us resulting in Joe becoming sick and Rosa developing an acidic stomach. What should have been a wonderful restful night after a long hard day on the water turned out to be a long night as well. O-well, that's part of the adventure. |
