Adventures in Key Largo, FL

Friday February 15th,2008

We slept a little late today, getting up just after sunrise. Joe has requested pancakes again for breakfast. I had purchased a small electric grill when we were last home and when we are in port we sometimes have a hot breakfast. A few days ago when grocery shopping I decided to try pancakes. I made banana pancakes and needless to say they were a hit.

Over the past few days I have experienced a skin irritation on my right eye lid. Today we located on Optician whose assistant said he could most like help me. Being a Friday I really did not want to risk this being something serious with the weekend coming. We rented a car and drove south on US1 which is the highway to Key West. The traffic was very heavy and it looked just like home except for the local vegetation. We found a restaurant to the east which sits in a little cove just off the Atlantic Ocean. It was really strange as there was no surf. There were huge fish swimming right up to the bulkhead. We made it to the doctor and sure enough I had little skin infection on the skin just above the eyelid. I filled my prescription and we headed to the grocery store for a few things before stopping by the rental car office to return the car. We had to pay for a full day rental. Oh well, it had to be done.

It was about four before we returned to Surprise, too late in the day to start traveling so we ended staying another night. Our evening was very relaxed, we planned our departure for the next morning.
